About Us

Alice Blyde

My path working with children and families began in 1999 at the University of Guelph. There I completed a Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours, majoring in Family and Social Relations. I continued my studies at Western University where I obtained my Bachelor of Education. I have been teaching elementary school since 2006 and have furthered my qualifications with AQ courses in Special Education and Kindergarten, including Kindergarten Specialist. I am passionate about the early years and view children as capable and competent beings. I strive to provide a safe and inclusive environment where my students see themselves reflected in our learning environment, and every child is successful in their own learning journey.

I began my education career as an Early Childhood Educator in 1999. After studying Reggio Emilia, and transforming my program into a project-based learning environment complete with atelier, I decided I wanted to expand my skills. I went back to school to earn my teaching degree, and began teaching elementary school in 2009. Since that time, I have worked with teachers and students in the Upper Grand District School Board. I am passionate about educational technology, and have completed the Integration of information and computer technology in instruction specialist AQ courses. I strive to co-create safe and inclusive learning spaces for my students through trauma-informed teaching and mindfulness practices.
