Video Highlights

• "hard-news report"="news story"

• article must include the given headline & details from the picture

• a NEWSPAPER story NOT a television news report i.e. "reporting live from the big storm..."

• use the rough notes area

• begin by answering who, what, where, why, when, how

• the "when" will always be in the past

• use the existing headline

• put the location and date after headline

• include specific detail of the 5Ws in your lead (first sentence)

• include quotations from eye-witnesses or other people involved in the event

• ONE ISSUE: This video does not include paragraphing: paragraphs should be short and focus on ONE idea or quotation. Start a new paragraph when quoting a different person.
