In addition to normal classroom rules, students in music class will:
try our best, participate and engage in the lessons (growth mindset, positive attitude!)
respect the instruments, each other and our teacher as we strive to embody the properties of a musician (confident, creative, willing to practice at a skill, collaborative).
Students in the junior division are discussing what it means to be a community while exploring the book "All Are Welcome Here". We are thinking about what we can each do to ensure that others feel that they belong in our classroom spaces and at Ken Danby. Reviewing rhythmic notation, students will be tasked with creating body percussion compositions with the specific ways they can positively contribute to our community.
sing and/or play, in tune, from musical notation, unison and two-part music with simple accompaniments from a wide variety of cultures, styles, and historical periods
use the tools and techniques of musicianship in musical performances
demonstrate an understanding of standard notation and other types of musical notation through performance and composition
