INSTRUMENTS: SHAKERS

Students are using instruments for the first time this year! We are classifying the different shaker instruments we have at KD and are having so much fun chanting and playing along with our shakers.

We explore different ways to play (tapping, circles, spinning, clapping, waving, etc.), while developing routines and learning expectations to ensure we respect and care for instruments we use for years to come.

There are so many ways you could make your own shakers at home. Explore with some recycled bottles that you could fill with seeds, kernels, or rice to make different shaker sounds. You can sing and play along with our music activities at home!

EVERYONE CAN SHAKE

Everyone can shake, shake, shake

Everyone can shake, shake, shake

Everyone can shake, shake, shake And now let's make a stop.

COUNTING SHAKE

One, two, shake it on your shoe.

Three, four, shake it on the floor.

Five, six, stir and mix.

Seven, eight, stand up straight.

Nine, ten, wave to all your friends
