Ariano Suassuna Library
The Ariano Suassuna Library received its new building in the first semester of 2024, with a total area of 1,195.35 m², of which 412.97 m² are exclusively for the physical collection, and the collective study hall has 188.22 m². The Library offers the academic community 16 individual study stations, 2 of which are preferential; 3 rooms for collective study, with a maximum limit of 6 users each; 5 rooms for technical activities; 1 room for the three coordinations and the library management room; 1 room with 30 seats for dissertation defenses, TCCs, workshops, lectures, meetings, training and other events; 1 room for consultation materials; 2 counters for in-person service and 1 self-service terminal (for loans, returns and renewals). Plus 2 terminals that allow consulting the online catalog, performing renewals, checking pending issues in the library and reserving materials, 5 bathrooms; space for the external community to consult the books in the collection and other environments. The new Library complies with ABNT NBR 9050 technical standards with inclusive spaces for wheelchair users and people with low vision or blindness, allowing everyone to circulate and access the SIB's collections and environments.
The Central Library SIB/UFAPE is connected to the world wide web, with a total of 5,173 titles and 19,968 copies. Access to the CAPES Journal Portal is carried out through a partnership between UFAPE and UFRPE, as it is in the process of migrating from the UFRPE Journal Portal to the UFAPE Journal Portal, which will be completed soon.
The Central Library also provides the academic community with the online catalog of the Pergamum System, through the website: https://ufape.pergamum.com.br/, which can be accessed anywhere with internet access or mobile technology, as well as through 2 exclusive consultation terminals available in the UFAPE library. It also has the Minha Biblioteca platform, which offers a multidisciplinary catalog of the main Brazilian publishers, providing more than 15 thousand titles (e-books) to contribute to the studies and research of the academic community, in the following areas of knowledge: exact sciences, human sciences, applied social sciences, earth sciences, legal, health, literature and arts, through the access link: https://portal.dli.minhabiblioteca.com.br/Login.aspx?key=UFAPE.
