Participation
All students are accountable for all in class rehearsal as well as full choir rehearsals and performances. Participation points can be made up by:
- Singing/Recording given passages of music from our literature for Mr. Arnold
- Singing/Recording an extra Sight Reading Passage for Mr. Arnold
- Volunteering for Star-Spangled Banner performances
Expectations
ABSOLUTELY NO GUM, FOOD, CELL PHONES, BOOKS, or other homework during instructional time (unless there are extenuating circumstances). Extra Rehearsals leading up to performances will be scheduled well in advance for the students. Any conflicts need to be accounted for with a parent email or telephone message.
Concerts - All ensemble concerts are mandatory and on the school calendar. If you are unable to attend a concert you must make up the grade with a written assignment. Please make note of these dates:
Fall Vocal Recital* - November 18, 2025 (UDHS Black Box Theater)
UDHS Winter Concert (Concert Choir & Chorale) – December 4, 2025 (UDHS Auditorium)
Music In Our Schools Month Choral Concert (Concert Choir & VOX) - March 24, 2026 (TBA)
UDHS/SRMS Spring Choir Concert (Concert Choir & VOX) – April 29, 2026 (UDHS Auditorium)
Spring Vocal Recital* - May 18, 2026 (UDHS Auditorium)

- Students cannot miss more than 3 rehearsals unexcused to receive credit.
- Will perform for Various Church Residency, Retirement Homes, Elementary and Middle Schools, Winter Concert, Small Ensembles Concert, various School/Community Functions during the Fall Semester
VOX –
- Audition, 18 members, 4 per voice part, 1-2 Vocal Percussion
- Students cannot miss more than 3 rehearsals unexcused to receive credit.
- Will perform for various in-school and out-of-school functions during the Spring Semester, Small Ensembles Concert, MIOSM, and Spring Concert
Appropriate Performance DressPerformance attire is of utmost importance and is the first impression at any concert! Please adhere to the following rules for performance dress:
Performance Dress for all Students
- Black Dress Shirt or Blouse, NO jackets, NO logos
- Black Dress Slacks or Long Skirt
- Black Dress Socks or Black Leggings
- Comfortable Shoes (Preferably Dark Color)
- Red tie or Red Splash above the waist (this can have a pattern on it but the principle color MUST be Cardinal Red)
