Forget grammar charts and endless conjugation drills! We focus on understanding and communicating in Latin through stories, games, and real interaction.
"Mageesh's teaching style was what I would like in every one of my classes." — 6th grade student
You'll be up and moving, acting, and participating actively. This isn't a sit-and-listen classroom—learning happens through doing.
Everyone learns differently, and that's celebrated here. Whether you're neurodiverse, anxious about languages, or a confident learner, you'll find strategies that work for you.
"She makes me feel noticed and not a forgotten child." — 6th grade student
We prioritize understanding over perfect grammar. Making mistakes is part of learning—you'll never be put on the spot or embarrassed.
Latin isn't a dead language in our classroom—it's a gateway to understanding Roman culture, history, and connections to modern languages and English.
Q: Is Latin really hard? A: Not the way we learn it! Instead of memorizing grammar rules, we acquire Latin naturally through stories and comprehensible input—the same way you learned English as a child.
Q: I have learning differences/ADHD/anxiety. Will I struggle? A: Many of my most successful students are neurodiverse learners. I use multiple teaching methods, allow movement, and create a low-stress environment where everyone can succeed.
Q: Do I need to know anything before starting? A: Nope! We start from zero and build together. Curiosity and willingness to participate are all you need.
Q: Will we just be translating boring sentences? A: Never! We focus on interesting stories, Roman culture, and meaningful communication. Translation comes naturally after comprehension.
Q: How is this different from other language classes? A: We prioritize understanding over grammar memorization, use movement and games, and focus on acquiring Latin naturally rather than learning about Latin.
Q: What if I want to take AP Latin later? A: Perfect! This foundation of comprehension and cultural knowledge sets you up beautifully for advanced Latin courses.
Q: What supplies do I need? A: Just bring yourself and a willingness to have fun! All materials are provided.
What to Bring: Just yourself and an open mind!
What We'll Do: Meet each other, play some getting-to-know-you games in Latin, and start our first story together.
No Pressure: There are no wrong answers on day one (or any day!). We're all learning together.
