In addition to choosing Latin, you have also chosen a teacher who is passionate about teaching, teaching children, and teaching children Latin.
You, language scholar, will have a plethora of FUN opportunities to became an aficionado of all things ancient.
As 6th graders, you will participate in:
National Classics Week, SCRIBO Writing Contest, and/or the Exploratory Latin Exam
As 7th graders, you will participate in:
the previously mentioned activities, the National Latin Exam (NLE), Philadelphia Classical Society (PCS) Latin Week Contests
As 8th graders, you will participate in:
the previously mentioned activities , Pennsylvania Junior Classical League (PAJCL) State Convention

Students submit original interpretations/representations of classical Greek/Roman mythology, history, archaeology or literature across nine artistic categories or sitting for an academic exam.
The NLE is a 40 question multiple-choice test that features questions on a variety of topics including: grammar, comprehension, mythology, derivatives, literature, Roman life, history, geography and oral Latin.
Latin students compete against Latin students in the other grades. In addition to the academic and athletic challenges, your student will have the chance to participate in a book drive and a letter campaign to local government.

Pennsylvania Junior Classical League (PAJCL) State Convention @ Lock Haven University over Memorial Day weekend. SRMS students will compete against other PA students in all things Latin (academics, athletics, arts, talent shows, quizzo, and more!) (starting in 2020; 8th grade only)
SRMS Latin Club seeks to bring together students for the purpose of pursuing camaraderie and activities outside the classroom setting that promote, encourage and otherwise support all things Roman.

In addition to monthly meetings after school in the cafeteria, we have a few major EVENTS where we are joined with the high school students.
While Covid will ultimately determine what happens, I do hope we are still able to do everything together this year.
