Quick Update for Saxophone Parents & Guardians:
Saxes are heavy, and most beginners tend to let them hang way too low, forcing them to hunch over or strain their necks to reach the mouthpiece. To make matters worse, the stock neck straps that come in the case are usually unpadded and uncomfortable, making proper adjustment a struggle. (I’ve repeatedly asked the music store to upgrade the default straps they include with rentals, to no avail!)
This short how-to video demonstrates how to adjust the neck strap properly so the instrument comes directly to the student's mouth:
Please take a moment to review this video with your young player and help them practice making these adjustments on their own so they can play comfortably every day!
If you would like to upgrade your student's strap to take the pressure off their neck and keep the horn secure, here are two great options.
