Mini Program Volunteer Coaches Information
(June - August 2026)
The UDFC Mini Program is able to provide a fun and safe environment for over 1400 players to learn and play the game of soccer due to the generous contributions of our volunteer coaches. If you are interested in coaching please contact miniprogram@udfc.ca. Please note no prior experience is necessary and there are different coaching roles that you can take on.
What Are My Resources as a Volunteer Coach?
Session plans will be emailed out weekly by a Mini Program Coordinator. These provide detailed descriptions of fun soccer games.
A coaching drive with additional games and instructions will be available to you (contact miniprogram@udfc.ca if you do not have access).
Volunteer Training Nights will be held the week before the beginning of the Mini Program to act as a dry run for new coaches.
Each field has a Mini Program Coordinator to help answer any questions or concerns in person or via email.
There are coaching binders at each field with paper copies of the session plans.
Information about coaching courses will be sent when details are finalized.

Frequently Asked Questions From Coaches
Do I need to organize snacks for my team?
No, snacks are completely optional.
Do I get a free T-shirt?
Yes! You can pick up your T-shirt at Gear Pick Up or at the field during your first week of practices.
What are the basic rules of soccer?
- No hands (except goalies), we use our feet, heads, chest, thighs, etc.
- One team shoots on one net, the other team shoots on the other
- Protect the net you are not shooting on
- If the ball goes out, the team who didn’t touch it last gets the ball. As coaches you can decide whether you do kick ins, throw ins, or simply throw a different ball into the grid.
- If a goal is scored, the ball is placed in the middle of the field and given to the team who is scored on (you can also just have the goalies kick it back into).
