We’re still looking for coaches! No prior experience is needed! Our program runs on the generous contributions of our volunteers. Please see below for an idea what coaching in our mini program looks like.
If you need to miss a practice, please contact your field coordinator so that we can find a substitute coach. Please notify us at least two weeks in advance so that the practice runs smoothly. We expect that coaches take vacation. It is the summer!!
As a way to show appreciation for volunteer work, ensure fair distribution of resources and provide consistent quality experiences for our youngest players, UDFC has an incentive policy where volunteer coaches who attend around 70% of the season receive a credit towards their next season's registration. The amount varies by team and number of coaches sharing the incentive, but at the mini level, it can be up to half of the program registration cost. Non parent coaches receive a cheque for the incentive amount at the end of the season. It isn't very much but it is a way to say thank you.
To sign up, please go to RAMP and log in in the same place you registered your player. Follow the steps.

Please message miniprogram@udfc.ca if you need help or have questions.

Frequently Asked Questions From Coaches
Do I need to organize snacks for my team?
No, snacks are completely optional.
Do I get a free T-shirt?
Yes! You can pick up your T-shirt at Gear Pick Up or at the field during your first week of practices.
What are the basic rules of soccer?
- No hands (except goalies), we use our feet, heads, chest, thighs, etc.
- One team shoots on one net, the other team shoots on the other
- Protect the net you are not shooting on
- If the ball goes out, the team who didn’t touch it last gets the ball. As coaches you can decide whether you do kick ins, throw ins, or simply throw a different ball into the grid.
- If a goal is scored, the ball is placed in the middle of the field and given to the team who is scored on (you can also just have the goalies kick it back into).
