We’re still looking for coaches! No prior experience is needed! Our program runs on the generous contributions of our volunteers. Please see below for an idea what coaching in our mini program looks like.
If you need to miss a practice, please contact your field coordinator so that we can find a substitute coach. Please notify us at least two weeks in advance so that the practice runs smoothly. We expect that coaches take vacation. It is the summer!!
As a way to show appreciation for volunteer work, ensure fair distribution of resources and provide consistent quality experiences for our youngest players, UDFC has an incentive policy where volunteer coaches who attend around 70% of the season receive a credit towards their next season's registration. The amount varies by team and number of coaches sharing the incentive, but at the mini level, it can be up to half of the program registration cost. Non parent coaches receive a cheque for the incentive amount at the end of the season. It isn't very much but it is a way to say thank you.
All UDFC coaches who complete the requirements will receive a small stipend to thank you for your time and effort on behalf of the players. The requirements include:
Register as a coach in RAMP (must be done every season)
Register as a coach in ClubGuardian (if you coached last season you are already in)
Have an up to date Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry check on file (club pays for this)
Attend 70% of the sessions.
To sign up, please go to RAMP and log in in the same place you registered your player. Follow the steps.
For a step by step process on how to register in RAMP, please visit HERE.
Please also register in ClubGuardian. This is where we will track your safety checks and certifications.
Please message us at miniprogram@udfc.ca if you need help or have questions.
No, snacks are completely optional. The parents can organize if they wish. A coach does not have to organize this.
Yes! You can pick up your T-shirt at the field during your first week of practices or at one of the Dry Run coaching sessions.
Give them the Mini Program email or coordinator’s email miniprograms@udfc.ca
No hands (except goalies), we use our feet, heads, chest, thighs, etc.
One team shoots on one net, the other team shoots on the other
Protect the net you are not shooting on
If the ball goes out, the team who didn’t touch it last gets the ball. At the mini level we do kick ins.
If a goal is scored, the ball is placed in the middle of the field and given to the team who is scored on (you can also just have the goalies kick it back into play).
