Week 10 (4/19 - 4/25)
This week’s major focus was on the release of the initial build and getting feedback from it
It was in a very early and rough state, but I was glad enough to have something functional
I was proud enough even if what we had to show so far wasn't anything spectacular
On a more unfortunate note, there were only two of us on the day of playtesting, so i didn't get to check out any of the other games
Summary of Feedback:
The flight mechanics are good in terms of speed, gravity, etc.
Fairly intuitive, but instructions are needed for some elements (like how to get resources from a flower)
The game is good for children 6 - 12 years old
Visuals need to be improved (cohesive style, bee size compared to other things, the predators look too friendly, needs more terrain features)
Current text pop-ups are a bit confusing
The rest of the feedback was mainly ideas and suggestions, which will be included in the next section.
Future Plan:
Implement the rest of the features we have planned
Implement features suggested during playtesting:
- Better instructions, menu, text
- Add contact mechanics so the bee cannot go through objects
- Separate Energy stat into Stamina and Health
- Add additional hazards (like rain)
- Parallaxing background
- Have flower gray out when its resources have been gathered
It looks like there’s definitely a lot more to work on. Onto the coming weeks
