05/30 - We are happy to welcome Emma Rogiers and Megan Oleksik for this summer term! Emma joins the group through an ISECoRPS fellowship while Megan is part of the SURE program. Both programs are supported by UD. We will working on electrospun nanofibers for environmental applications in collaboration with Dr. Garry Crosson (Chemistry) and Dr. Kenya Crosson (Civil and Env. Eng).
04/27 - Robert's last paper with the NEMlab group is published. Check out our work on surface-modified magnetic nanoshells for the fast detection and aggregation of L. monocytogenes. This work was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Biology, Electro-Optics, and Physics at the University of Dayton and researchers at the Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratories. This is our laboratory's fourth paper of the year! Thank you all for your hard work.

04/23 - Emily Westphal successfully defended her M.S. thesis, Congratulations! This is the first semi in-person defense we've had in the past year.
04/22 - PI Erick Vasquez gives an invited seminar presentation at PUPR, entitled: "Functionalized Nanoscale Materials: Their Behavior, Assembly & Applications in Engineering" . Thank you to Prof. Omar Movil-Cabrera for the invitation!
03/24 - Suchitha's paper on electrospinning of Poly(acrylonitrile-co-Methyl Acrylate)/Lignin Nanofibers is published in Polymers (MDPI). She studied the effects of changing lignin type, blend ratios, and total polymer concentration in DMF solvents prior to electrospinning. Great effort and collaborative work, produced with researchers from the University of Dayton.
03/22 - Frankie's paper on the fabrication of lignin@Fe3O4 nanocomposites is available online. and published in the Int. J. of Biological Macromolecules. We are thankful to collaborators at UTSA and NIST for their support and help on this NSF-funded project.
