💻 21 Days of Udacity Challenge 💻
Thank you to those of you who committed to the challenge! View the Challenge Stars HERE!
You may have heard of the #100DaysofCode Challenge, and here at Udacity we do something that will feel very familiar to you. It's called the 21 Days of Udacity Challenge — and we're here to challenge you!
The rules are mostly unchanged and the general premise is to build a habit by making a public commitment of working in your classroom every day for 21 days within Phase 1 of your Advance Africa Scholarship Challenge. Habits that emphasize consistent practice have been proven to help overall retention of new learning material. The premise of this challenge is to help you build a time-line driven goal in terms of the Phase 1 Course, track your progress regularly, and commit to the goal as a team so that you can help each other achieve it!
🚨You won't be assigned any teams as such. It is just that 'everyone' who fills the commitment form for the challenge will be considered as part of a big team!
Important Dates:
Starts On: Thursday, January 20th, 2022
Last Date to Sign-up for the challenge: Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 by 11:59 PM PT
2️⃣With the Goal of reaching 100% course completion by the February 16th deadline, EVERYDAY work on your Phase 1 Challenge Course by setting aside a time for it (we're suggesting 30 minutes everyday!)
3️⃣Do a daily check-in of your progress in the #21_days_udacity Slack Channel! How? Everyday at around the same time, make a post in the #21_days_udacity Channel answering the following three questions:
What did I work on today?
What will I work on tomorrow?
What issues are blocking my progress?
Here’s an example of what a daily post will look like:
" Day 1 -
1. Today, I worked on Content Delivery under Cloud Fundamentals
2. Tomorrow I plan to work on Security under Cloud Fundamentals
3. Not understanding how to create a VPC is blocking my progress"
4️⃣Operate as a team! 😁
Applaud those who post any wins! For eg. if someone posts; 'Yesterday, I finally completed lesson 3'. You can do this by leaving an emoji under someone's daily update or by replying directly to them with encouragement!
Motivate anyone who is struggling! See if you can help anyone in removing their blockers and offer your help to them.
5️⃣ When you've successfully completed the 21 day challenge please go ahead and fill out the Completion Form!
You must do a DAILY check-in about your progress in the Challenge Course in #21_days_udacity Slack Channel in format given above each day except for the 2 days off of your choice. Start posting from the day you sign-up :)
You may choose to exercise 2 "Off Days" during the entirety of the 21 days at any point that you select. You will not have to post a checkin on those 2 days.
In your daily check-in post, you will only mention about your progress made in the Challenge Course.
You can choose to make the daily check-in post at any particular time in your time zone. We will though recommend that whatever time you pick, try to keep posting at around the same time everyday in the #21_days_udacity channel as this will help in making it a habit!
For eg. if you decide to make a daily check-in post at 5 PM in your time zone, then try to do your daily check-in at the same time everyday for the whole 21 days of the commitment
Completed your Challenge Coursework? If you happen to complete your Challenge Course before or during the 21 days, then in your daily check-ins you can post about something related to this Scholarship such as a project that demonstrates your newfound skills, leading sessions in your Study Team, or a working on other relevant courses on Udacity.
Everyone who signs up for the 21 day commitment should think of themselves as a part of a big team!
Encouragement to your team-members can be as simple as a positive emoji! 🎉🔥
To participate in the 21 day challenge, you must start on or before January 25th, 2022. After that the commitment form will be closed.
The commitment will end once you reach your 21 day mark! Of course you are welcome to continue posting should you want to!
Participating scholars will be listed on the 21 Day Challenge Commitment Wall
When you successfully finish your 21 day commitment, let us know of it through the Completion Form!
You can set up a daily reminder in Slack to post the daily check-in everyday! All you need to do is type and send this in your DM Conversation with Slackbot (paste the text without the quotes) "/remind me at XX AM everyday to Post daily check-in for the 21 day challenge in #21_days_udacity channel"(You can replace XX AM with whatever time in your timezone you think you will be able to make a daily post for the challenge eg. 10 AM , 9:30 PM etc.).
