As a Peer Educator, you will utilize public speaking at workshops, tabling events, or during other presentations. It is common for people to be nervous speaking in front of others; however, public speaking gets easier with practice. That being said, we encourage you to embrace the process and practice, practice, practice! In this module, you will watch two different videos on public speaking and answer the corresponding questions.
Aside from basic public speaking skills and strategies, here are some general tips for when you're tabling out on library walk or presenting at an event:
Believe in your message: Know why you are speaking. Why does it matter?
Believe in yourself: Only you know what you're going to share, present, and speak on—Breathe. Trust. Relax.
Be authentic: Find what feels comfortable and do that. Be unapologetically you!
