QT*POC draws its values from adrienne maree brown's idea of emergent strategy. We aim to focus on bottom-up community building that centers the joy and lived experiences of queer and trans people of color. We hope to not only just create space for members of the QTPOC community, but also to have a collaborative relationship with said community.
The board of QT*POC is non-hierarchal, where power is decentralized and distributed horizontally. This means that while we have different positions and responsibilities, decisions are typically made collectively, and everyone is responsible for running the org. We believe that by having a decentralized, non-hierarchal leadership, we can develop strong and interdependent relationships (on the board and with the community), allowing us to be adaptive. Remaining adaptive equips us with the necessary tools for handling change, creating the resilience we need to practice transformative justice and move toward liberation.
