PhD Shared Sample Folder- Ethical Use Guidelines
Please keep the materials of the folder within our department. Do not share this folder with non-UCSD, non-Literature students.
If you wish, you may reach out to the author for further permission for use. Contacts are listed. If the work is anonymous, please respect the author’s choice.
Share what you learn through synthesis. For example, summarizing what you learned through a sample and discussing that with a friend is different from duplicating the material and circulating it.
Note- the PhD handbook gets edited and requirements do change. Always consult with the current handbook and your committee members to ensure you have the most up-to-date information.
A mix of past UCSD student Dissertations, prospectus, etc.
This link takes you to the google drive where you can explore past UCSD student submissions in this process.
from Joanmarie Bañez (FA '19)
Dr. Brisa Marie was a graduate student in Art History at UCLA and is now in a postgrad position. She shares her journey through the PhD process with loads of friendly and holistic advice. Topics on her channel range from reading strategies to Dissertation preparation. It is often difficult to find videos that speak from the humanities PhD program which is why this one has helped so much.
