Dr. Walt Baxter, a 1999 UCSD Bioengineering graduate, was inducted into Medtronic's prestigious Bakken Society on August 10, 2017. Named after Medtronic founder Earl Bakken, the society honors individuals for exceptional technical or scientific contributions to the company. As a senior principal scientist, Dr. Baxter is renowned for developing numerical models that enhance device reliability and innovation. He was also celebrated for his strong collaboration skills, leadership in team settings, and mentorship of students through teaching and participation on academic and industry boards.
