Your student ID (PID) can be found in your application and will look like A########.
Please note that some of these steps require you to be enrolled in your classes with fees assessed.
Deadlines for specific tasks can be found on the linked websites. Please note that the university admits traditional grad and undergrad students much earlier than the MAS program, so some deadlines have technically already passed. For any deadlines that have passed, please, take care of these steps ASAP.
If some of these tasks are not met by the deadline date, a registration hold may be placed on your account and we will be unable to enroll you in your courses.
The Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs (GEPA) has put together a checklist of items to take care of before beginning your educational journey at UC San Diego. Please note, some components in the GEPA checklists may not apply to everyone. You will need to reach each section in-detail to determine if something (i.e., opting in to the university's health insurance (SHIP), signing up for graduate housing, or submitting international transcript evaluations) applies to you.
All incoming students must be in compliance with the university's health requirements. Specific components of the requirements and their deadlines can be found on the Student Health website's Health Requirements for Students page.
1. If you have a clinical question, message “Ask a Nurse” in your electronic medical record: MyStudentChart.ucsd.edu/shs/
2. If you are having technical problems, email shstb@health.ucsd.edu and include your student ID number. Do not include any personal medical information as this is not a secure method of communication.
The university mandates that all students carry health insurance. As such, all incoming students are, by default, opted-in to the university-sponsored plan, SHIP. Most of our students have health coverage through their employers and are able to waive the annual SHIP plan. You will need to follow the instructions on the SHS website to waive the insurance. The instructions for the waiver and additional contact information can be found at the bottom of the page under "How do I apply for a waiver".
The online Health Fee Waiver application is only available through TritonLink during scheduled waiver periods.
Select "TritonLinkTools", then under FinancialTools, select "Health Fee Waiver".
The "Health Fee Waiver" link will take you to your SSO, where you will log in.
You will then be directed to the Health Fee Waiver questionnaire on the AHP website.
Complete the insurance information and submit your Health Fee Waiver request.
TIP: If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation from AHP that your waiver was submitted, please contact AHP at (855) AHP CARE or call the UCSD Student Health Insurance Office at (858) 534-2124.
All waivers must be received prior to the waiver deadline date. No exceptions.
The deadline is September 14, 2024. Late waiver will be open from 9/15/24 thru 9/20/24 with a $50 late fee.
We've partnered with the Campus Cards Office to coordinate ID card distribution for Fall 2024. Please do not request your ID card from their office, we will pick-up all ID cards from their office and distribute them to you at Orientation.
All you need to do is submit your photo via the online photo tool by Friday, August 30th (For DSE and WES) and Friday, September 6th (For CoSE).
The "Pending Admissions Documents" section of your applicant portal lists the official documents needed by Graduate Division to finalize your admission and must be submitted if you choose to accept your admission offer. All pending documents must be submitted to Grad Division by October 18th.
The current processing time for documents once they arrive to the Graduate Admissions office (by mail or email) is approximately three to four weeks. You can view any updates to the status of submitted documents by logging in to the Slate applicant portal.
If you have any questions about your pending documents or think you might have trouble getting the documents, please email Graduate Division Admissions at gradadmissions@ucsd.edu and cc your Program Manager (Yvonne Wu - yvwu@ucsd.edu).
Your Program Manager will work with you to help you enroll in classes before the start of every quarter. Please let Yvonne know if you do not want to be enrolled. The Fall quarter deadline to enroll and pay without late fees is September 20, 2024.
All MAS classes are restricted to MAS students in their respective programs. As such, your Program Manager needs to pre-authorize your enrollment in every class, every quarter. You will not be able to enroll until this action takes place.
Course materials will also be provided prior to or at the start of each quarter. You do not need to purchase course materials unless advised otherwise or if you prefer a format we do not offer.
If you need any special documentation, please email JacobsMAS@ucsd.edu.
If you are using Financial Aid and have questions regarding your disbursement, please contact finaid@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-4480.
If you are self-funded, you can pay through Student Financial Services. You can also explore repayment through installments using TRIP. For questions, please submit a ticket though the UC San Diego Services & Support portal or call 858-822-4727.
Students using veterans' or military benefits should contact the Student Veteran Benefits Coordinator at vao@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-4480. More information can be found here.

We provide parking for all of your scheduled class days via the ParkMobile app, but you must use the unique parking code that was sent to your UCSD email. More information, including a step-by-step guide with screenshots, will be found on the link above.
Graduate Division offers an all-Grad orientation, it is optional and not incredibly pertinent to the MAS programs. (It is geared more towards traditional Grad Students living on campus.) For more information, please see the Grad Life website.
Program-Specific orientations will be held on September 14, 2024 (DSE and WES) and September 24, 2024 (CoSE). More information about your program orientation will be emailed by your Program Manager. These orientations are very highly encouraged, as parts of the orientation will not be recorded. We will also be passing out course materials and ID cards.
