Our fluorescent imaging device has surpassed the initial goal of 20 nM and was able to increase the limit of detection to 100 pM. Post-image processing with ImageJ has been critical to our data analysis. From our standard curve, it is inconclusive that the intensity of the fluorescent spot is correlated to the concentration of our biomarker due to inconsistency in sample placement adjacent to the LED source.
Future directions for this project include using artificial intelligence to adjust camera and ImageJ settings, implementation of a touch screen control center, and the use of light absorbing material throughout the device. Any future endeavors pursued should include our core principles of developing a portable, inexpensive, and effective imaging device for the detection of TBI at the qualitative scale.
