Magallanes is a Los Angeles based artist, raised in a Mexican barrio east of downtown Los Angeles. His artwork is influenced by the cultural and social elements of that upbringing. At the age of fifteen, he was expelled from high school while at the same time being accepted into the Ryman Arts program at the Otis College campus which encouraged him to become a professional artist. The experience of participating in two distinct worlds continues to inform his work that focuses on painting, multimedia, mobiles and sculptural works. He has exhibited in over 150 exhibitions over the course of his career along with creating public works with his art collective 3B. He received his BA in Art from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2016 and is currently an MFA candidate at the University of California, San Diego.
