Hello everyone! Welcome to my Eng 15 web portfolio. This website showcases all the works I've completed so far for the success in my engineering journey. I'm a Computer Science major transfer student embarking on my first year at UCSD. I'm excited about learning new things and engaging in new environment. My aim is to put in the effort, have a successful academic and career journey, and enjoy my time in college.Â
Success to me encompasses both personal and academic growth over the next four years. In achieving success, I envision excelling academically by maintaining a strong GPA and mastering the core concepts of my engineering discipline. Equally important is the development of practical skills through internships and hands-on projects, providing me with real-world experience that can be applied in future. Success also means building a diverse network of friends, mentors, and industry professionals, fostering meaningful connections that will support and inspire my journey. Additionally, I view personal growth as a vital component of success, where I aspire to enhance my self-confidence and adaptability to navigate the challenges of college life and the engineering field. By the end of these four years, I aim to graduate as a well-rounded and knowledgeable engineering student, ready to embark on a fulfilling and prosperous career in the field, driven not only by academic achievements but also by personal and professional development.
My long-term goal is to be a professional programmer, achieve a fulfilling and successful career while maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle. I aim to be accepted into a good graduate school to further my education and skills. By finding a high-paying job, I'll have the financial means to travel and explore the world, satisfying my wanderlust. I'll also developing my drawing skills as a personal hobby.
Maintain a high GPA by diligently attending classes, staying organized, and seeking help from professors or tutors when facing challenges.
Actively search and apply for an internship that aligns with my career goals and academic interests, providing valuable real-world experience.
Prepare thoroughly for graduate school applications.
Practice and learn programming skills both in class and online by self-studying.
Commit to a regular exercise routine and maintain a healthy lifestyle, ensuring personal wellness.
Dedicate time to develop my drawing skills, studying online or attending workshops, and producing quality artwork.
In classifying these tasks, I considered their alignment with my long-term goals of becoming a professional programmer, maintaining a high GPA, and pursuing a balanced and healthy lifestyle, which are my SMART goals. The items in Quadrant I are directly related to my academic success and immediate career goals, such as maintaining a high GPA and preparing for an internship.
Regarding procrastination, I've noticed that some tasks have become urgent due to delay. For example, if I procrastinate on reviewing for a midterm, it becomes an urgent task right before the exam. To overcome procrastination, I am working on improving my time management and setting specific deadlines for tasks, especially those in Quadrant II. Prioritizing and breaking down bigger tasks into smaller, manageable steps has helped me tackle them in a timely manner.
However, the areas that remain challenging are those in Quadrants III and IV, which are neither urgent nor important. I find it difficult to resist immediate distractions like checking emails, shopping, or spending time on less productive activities. To address this, I'm developing self-discipline by setting clear boundaries and allocating time for leisure activities only after completing essential tasks in Quadrants I and II.
