Abstract
There is a need for early detection in ovarian cancer screening for average-risk and high-risk individuals. This project works with the Women’s Imaging Lab (WIL) to create a protocol for ovarian cancer screening with high-resolution imaging using high b-value diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). Our project aims to test a noise correction algorithm on the developed protocol qualitatively by assessing the DWI images visually, and quantitatively by comparing ADC values of lesions before and after noise correction to their expected values in literature. Based on our findings, we concluded that noise corrected images are producing ADC values closer to expected values with % error decreasing from 16.5% to 8.74% for malignant lesions. Future work includes continued investigation of other processing methods and creating a preliminary restriction spectrum imaging (RSI) model.
