Bioengineering Day (BE Day) is the largest Bioengineering-themed event at UC San Diego. It serves to celebrate our world-renowned bioengineering department and the student-led research essential to our program. BE day aims to help students at all stages of research as they develop scientific literacy, leadership abilities, and professional communication and presentation skills.
The main events of BE day are the poster sessions, which are divided into two sessions: Poster Session 1 (10:00 am - 11:30 am) and Poster Session 2 (1:00 am - 2:30 pm). The posters in each session are listed on the Poster Session page and are displayed in Price Center West Ballroom.
To view a project's abstract, poster, ABET addenda, and a full list of contributors to the project about a poster, use the naviagtion bar on the left hand side.
If your browser is full-screened on a computer/laptop the navigation bar should be located on the left of the screen. If your browser is not full-screened or you are using mobile, click the three lines next to the BE Day Logo in order to access all pages of the website.
The judging forms are given to industry members, alumni, faculty, and juniors in the Bioengineering department. We aim to use less paper in this event so the judging submissions are through a Google form and meant to be filled ou in response to a senior group's presentation.
This helps give feedback to the presenting students and assists the department with the ABET accreditation process essential to the program. In addition, the scores of the forms will determine which groups will receive the awards available.
Absolutely! We welcome any guests interested in learning about the bioengineering research being done at UC San Diego. We also encourage all our guests to speak to the presenting seniors and ask them about their work if they feel like doing so.
No, you do not need to judge every poster you visit.
Judges, please submit a judging form for the posters you've been assigned to. Once that is complete, feel free to either judge or simply visit posters throughout the session.
Students in BENG 187A: to complete the requirements, you must judge six posters throughout the day, in Poster Session 1 and/or 2. We suggest doing three each session.
The Judging Form can be found here:
If you cannot access the Judging Form on a Group's page, use this link: Use the same form for all posters you judge.
Dress code is business formal but be sure to wear comfortable clothes! Be sure to bring your phone or tablet for judging. Bring a notebook and a pen if you would like to take notes.
Bioengineering Day is a collaboration between the Bioengineering Department, the Institute of Engineering in Medicine (IEM), and the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES). Visit the "Meet the Team" page for more specific information on the Bioengineering Day 2024 Committee.
