The Union County Middle School Honor Band is an audition-based, after-school ensemble comprised mostly of 7th and 8th-grade students. Rehearsals are on Mondays and Wednesdays after school until 4:30 PM in the UCMS Bandroom. Please check the calendar for all rehearsal and concert dates.
Here you will find the materials for the honor band auditions. The audition process is listed below:
Woodwind and Brass auditions will be comprised of Major Scales, Chromatic Scale, Etude, and a Sight Reading
Percussion auditions will be comprised of Major Scales, Chromatic Scale, Snare Drum Etude, and Timpani tuning (two drums)
You will choose 2 scales to perform from the Major Scales sheet (Concert F, Bb, Eb, or Ab) and the Chromatic Scale. Scales with multiple octaves will receive more points on the audition if played correctly compared to one-octave scales (so choose wisely). Also, you will receive more credit if the scales are memorized and performed correctly. For the etude, you will perform the FIRST etude that is on the page (for percussion, scroll down and select the PDF option for "Snare Drum Etude #1).
