What supplies do I need for band class?
Below is a list of supplies you will need for band class. If there are ANY financial concerns, please contact Mr. Foster directly at: dfoster@ucschools.org
An Instrument (skip this step if you have an instrument already)
For 6th grade students, instrument tryouts occurred last spring. If your child has not tried out an instrument, they will try one out ASAP.
Our instrument rental night will be on August 21st, at 6:30PM in the cafeteria (see calendar).
For the 7th and 8th graders playing school instruments, you won't need to rent an instrument but you will need some basic accessories to go with your instrument (see number 2).
Accessories
If you are renting an instrument from Gadsden Music, you will be able to purchase an accessory pack for your instrument (Students will need this in order to play their instruments).
If you are using a school instrument, (Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, French Horn, Baritone, Tuba) you need to make sure you have your own accessories. Brass players will need their own mouthpiece and woodwind players will need their own reeds.
If you are using a previously used instrument, you will need to make sure you have all of the accessories you need. Please feel free to bring in what you have to the instrument night and we can help you get anything you may be missing. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mr. Foster anytime.
Book
If you rent your instrument during the rental night, the book will come with the instrument.
All 6th and 7th grade band members will need the "Habits of a Successful Beginner Band Musician." These books are instrument specific and cost approximately $10-$15. You can order on the instrument rental night (it will be delivered with the instruments) or you can buy one on Amazon (PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PURCHASE THE CORRECT BOOK. For example, if your child plays clarinet, they need a clarinet book).

A 1 inch, 3 ring folder
Sheet Protectors
Pencils to keep in their case and one to keep on their stand. No pens please.
