Daniel Foster, Band Director at Union County Middle School in Blairsville, GA, has been director since 2021. Mr. Foster graduated from Fannin County High School in 2013 and attended Reinhardt University in Waleksa, GA, receiving a Bachelor of Music in Music Education.
While at Reinhardt University, Mr. Foster performed with world-renowned euphonium soloist, Adam Frey with the Reinhardt University Wind Ensemble. Mr. Foster also performed at the American Bandmaster's Association with the University Chamber Winds in 2014, along with the Georgia Music Educator's Association in state conference in 2015. Mr. Foster also performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the University Choir in 2015. He has also been the winner of the University Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist with the University Orchestra in 2016. During his senior year, Mr. Foster was the recipient of the Phi Beta Mu "Outstanding Senior Music Education Major" Award in 2018.
While in college, Mr. Foster was also a guest conductor for the American Patriot Winds and was the conductor for the Atlanta Guitar Orchestra in 2016. He has also performed with many community groups such as the American Patriot Winds, the Georgia Wind Symphony, and most recently, the Tara Winds who performed at the Georgia Music Educator's Association in state conference in 2019.
Mr. Foster student taught with Mr. Mike Bearden at North Paulding High School in the fall of 2018 and graduated in December in 2018. After graduating from Reinhardt University, Mr. Foster became the interim Beginning and Intermediate Band Director for the North Georgia Home School Band in the Spring of 2019. Mr. Foster then became the Assistant Band Director at Richmond Hill Middle School in Richmond Hill, GA in the fall of 2019.
Mr. Foster has performed in professional ensembles under various conductors that include, Col. Lowell Graham, Dr. Cynthia Johnston Turner, Mr. Ray Cramer, Mr. Randall Standridge, Dr. David Gregory, Ms. Gladys Wright, Dr. Robert Ponto, Dr. David Vandewalker, Dr. Andrea Strauss, and many others.
Mr. Foster, his wife, Savannah, and their dog Buddy are very excited to be moving back home to the mountains and are looking forward to continuing to build a program of musical excellence.
