In December 2024, UC Santa Cruz undergraduates worked with their elementary student partner to create a science fair demonstration for the Seymour Center Pop-Up event.Â
Demonstrations included:
Egg drop experiment (utilizing basic physics to design a system that prevents the egg from breaking when dropped)
Plant germination (allowing visitors to plant different types seeds in a small tray to visualize various germination rates)
Strawberry DNA extraction (allowing visitors to visualize what DNA looks like to the human eye)
Eco-column (demonstrating the nutrient, energy, and matter flow between plants, animals, and environment)
Kepler's Law simulation (a visual representation of how Earth orbits the sun)
In April 2024, UCSC undergraduates created informational posters and science fair demonstrations to display at the Seymour Center Pop-up Event.
Posters & Demonstrations Included:
Thermal Powered Flower Demonstration
Watershed Protection Information
Kombucha Brewing Demonstration
DIY Solar Oven
Mushroom Tie Dye
Air Vortex Cannon
