The Trauma Group at the Stanford Psychophysiology Lab is a project that studies the long term implications of child maltreatment. Since joining in June 2020, I have had the opportunity to refine my research skills by co-authoring manuscripts, conducting studies, presenting my work at conferences, composing national and international grant proposals, and presenting literature reviews & overviews of our work to the rest of the lab.
The ECP Lab at UC Santa Cruz studies the intersection between emotion, cognition, and psychopathology. During my time with ECP from Winter 2021 to Spring 2022, I co-authored a manuscript on trait mindfulness and selective attention to positive stimuli, presented our results at a national conference in 2022, and conducted and presented literature reviews on various topics pertaining to mindfulness, emotion regulation, and internalizing disorders.
AOP at UC Santa Cruz is a research initiative that explores the relationship between morality and academic dishonesty. From Spring 2019 to Summer 2020, I conducted a study on academic dishonesty amongst students in the UCSC Baskin's School of Engineering. Here, I developed research skills such as qualitative data analysis of confidential interview data, as well as analysis and criticism of scientific literature. I presented our results as first author at a prestigious developmental psychology conference in 2021.
SURU, an undergraduate symposium held in order to encourage students to explore various fields of research, has been held at UC Santa Cruz for the past four years. In November 2019, I was on the planning team and organized the event. In this role, I got the opportunity to meet various guest faculty speakers and students from universities across the country who presented their research.
