CAMINO - Center to Advance Mentored Inquiry-based Opportunities in Ecology & Evolution CAMINO provides inclusive research opportunities, funding, and professional community to students exploring careers in field science and environmental conservation. - Applications for Summer 2026 will open in December 2025.
UCNRS - Field Science Fellowship - PAID fellwoship opportunities! Conduct field-based research at UCNRS reserves under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Students must commit 40 hours a week for 8 weeks during the summer. Applications are currently closed.
UCNRS - California Ecology and Conservation Field Program - This intensive field program is specifically tailored for students contemplating a career in ecology, conservation biology, or a related field. For 50 days, students from across the UC system participate in hands-on learning, gaining a familiarity with some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes the state has to offer. Students complete a series of independent research studies while learning to notice natural patterns, frame questions into feasible research projects, and practice standard field techniques.
UCSC STEM Diversity - Programs promote diversity in the sciences by providing direct services that support students, bolstering their science identity through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) research training, professional development, and academic support.
UCSC Earth Futures Institute Frontier Fellows Research Program - year long program that provides a stipend for students to conduct interdisciplinary research with a faculty sponsor.
UC Berkeley - Integrative Biology Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) - this program is intended to support scholars who demonstrate passion to engage in original, hands-on research and explore graduate school opportunities with IB faculty. SURE will support participants with a research stipend, housing and meals for the program duration.
