Welcome to the JB Sports and PE website.
PHILOSOPHY AND INTENT & AIMS
Pupils have the knowledge, skills and attributes that prepares them to pursue a sport/s of their choice at an appropriate performance level.
We continue to encourage every student to pursue a sport that enriches their holistic experience across the foundation. The outcomes of the quality of students' achievements and the quality of their personal development would be of key importance for the PE and games department and this focus will be across the foundation. What needs to be monitored is how good they are and has the process been significant and meaningful.
UCS students are positively encouraged to play in team sports; this brings many enriching qualities to their education at UCS. Cooperating with each other; respecting the diversity of the team and understanding cultural differences. Secondly it teaches students about resilience and striving to achieve a common goal. UCS is known for being a tolerant and liberal school and playing team sports enriches the school further in achieving its aims.
Through PE and Sport UCS will gain various methods of fitness training in order to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. If delivered correctly it will also enable students to become more independent and understand their bodies and the environments to work in.
A fundamental part of the students progression within sport at UCS is how the PE program runs alongside our games program. The PE programme aims to inform students how to be better at their chosen sport and for them to fully understand whichever pathway they decide to follow. Each pupil within the PE programme has a clear understanding of how their bodies perform using sports science theories and principles. The focus in the games program is to enhance the quality of the student experience. We aim for students to go home and engage with their parents about their sporting experiences.
