Outreach

It is extremely important for everyone in mathematics to strive to do everything we can to make it as accessible, diverse, and inclusive as possible. I try to take advantage of every opportunity I'm given to contribute to these ideals. I've been fortunate to be a part of the following organizations:

  • REFUGES: A program run through the University of Utah's Center for Science and Mathematics Education (CSME). It includes an after school tutoring and mentorship program, and a Bridge program for entering college students. I worked there as a tutor and later as the after school program coordinator.

  • BEAM: A program that helps underrepresented and underserved students from NYC and LA enter advanced study in mathematics. In the summer of 2019, I worked at their BEAM Summer Away program at Union College as a TA and counselor where I assisted the instructors in managing students and coming up with ideas for coursework, served as a mentor for the students, and got to engage in plenty of fun activities and field trips with them while we were there.

I have also served as a recruitment ambassador for the UCR Department of Mathematics which involves attending recruitment events and conferences as well as being available to prospective students when they have questions about my experience as a graduate student at UCR.
