Noble Williamson

I am a teaching postdoctural fellow at the University of Utah. Prior to that, I earned my PhD from the University of California, Riverside. My research interest lie primarily in combinatorial aproaches to birational geometry. I'm also very curious in learning more about applied algebraic geometry and tropical geometry.

My teaching philosophy revolves around the idea that mathematics courses should primarily be an opportunity for students to explore their ingenuity and problem solving skills and that making mistakes along the way is a critically important aspect of that endeavor so I try to design courses in a way that forgives mistakes as long as students learn from them and keep trying through means such as mastery-based grading.

Outside of math I enjoy cooking, hiking, watching movies, and playing tabletop and video games.
