Designed for youth practitioners, this workshop uses two case studies rooted in youth participatory action research methods (YPAR). YPAR is a pedagogical and methodological approach that centers young people as knowledgable and invaluable collaborators as they investigate and generate solutions for issues impacting their community.
Designed for undergraduate students, this workshop engages young people to reflect on their schooling experience, interrogate the narratives about schools and learning, and envision what liberated learning & educational spaces can and should look like.
Designed for high school youth, this workshop engages teens in Asset and Power Mapping as they identify the different resources and persons of power in their community. Mapping is often used by researchers and advocates to strategize and identify the people/groups who can help (or hinder) social progress. Through this workshop, youth identify how power operates within their community and how they can leverage their collective power to ensure their voices are heard.
Designed for youth practitioners, this workshop illustrates how storytelling operates as a strategy of positive social change, highlights key ethical considerations of storytelling when working with young people, and identifies the components of a compelling story.
