The finalized schedule for LACMS 2027 is comin soon:
The meeting begins on Friday afternoon. After participants have had the opportunity to check in to their rooms, a social gathering precedes dinner. The first oral session begins directly after dinner and is followed by a poster session at which refreshments are available. Saturday is a busy day, beginning with an early breakfast and followed by an oral session that is broken up with a coffee break to allow participants to rejuvenate themselves and the schedule to get back on track if necessary. An extended break during which lunch is served allows some time for relaxation, exercise, or one last practice for the afternoon speakers. The break ends with a photo of all conference participants taken in front of the conference center. Another oral session with a coffee break concludes the afternoon. The conference meals provide a relaxed atmosphere for friendly discussions. The highlight of the meeting occurs after dinner on Saturday, when a seasoned (and ofttimes well lubricated) mass spectrometrist presents a lighthearted historical overview of mass spectrometry as seen through their experiences and interactions.
The evening concludes with a spirited celebration. Lest anyone celebrate too enthusiastically, an early breakfast is again followed by a morning of oral presentations. The meeting ends with lunch, many farewells and promises to write (papers, of course).
While the schedule depends somewhat on the number of participants, talks are typically 20 minutes long plus 5 minutes for discussion. Long-winded speakers miss the opportunity for constructive discussion with the friendly and interested attendees. Most oral sessions incorporate three to four presentations between breaks. The compact schedule of this meeting generally allows for approximately 25 oral presentations. As a result, the number of oral presentations from a single research group is generally limited to three. Consistent participation from several groups has been a hallmark of the meeting. Poster sessions provide an alternative format for dissemination of new ground-breaking research while allowing all attendees to present their research if they so desire. Limited space in the meeting hall means that approximately 20-25 posters can be accommodated.
