Mathematical Pathways to an Excellent Future
at the University of California, Riverside on Tuesday on March 11, 2025.
A one-day event featuring:
A diverse set of expository mathematics lectures that cover a wide range of topics within mathematics and which may be suitable for non-expert attendees.
A panel discussion on building a future with mathematics. Here, the speakers will talk about their paths within mathematics and answer questions from the audience.
Posters from graduate and undergraduate students. Two prizes will be awarded for the best undergraduate posters and two for the best graduate student posters. A panel of judges will select first and second-place winners, who will receive awards of $300 and $200, respectively.
A one-page essay competition focused on your journey in mathematics. This competition offers attendees a chance to discuss their experiences and interests in mathematics, including any challenges or successes they have faced. A panel will evaluate essays, with a $300 award for the best essay from an undergraduate student and the best from a graduate student. The panel of judges will determine the winners. Send your submission to pgallard@ucr.edu. Attendance of at least one talk is mandatory to be considered for the prize.
Funding: Limited funding is available to assist local students with expenses such as gas (carpooling is highly encouraged) and train tickets. Priority will be given to students who are presenting posters. For students traveling from farther away, we recommend covering lodging expenses for up to two nights in a shared hotel room if no other funding is available.
The Speakers
Local organizers: Vyjayanthi Chari and Patricio Gallardo at UCR.
