I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of California - Riverside. I previously was a postdoc in the Homological Algebra group at Aarhus University, and I graduated from the University of Minnesota where I worked with Gregg Musiker. Here is my CV.
The best way to contact me is through email: estherbanaian(at)gmail(dot)com or estherb(at)ucr(dot)edu. Current students should use the latter.
Research Interests: Algebraic combinatorics, representation theory of finite-dimensional algebras, enumerative combinatorics, hyperbolic geometry.
Key Words: Cluster algebras, frieze patterns (see wonderful introductory video below by Dr. Sergei Tabachnikov), Markov numbers, gentle algebras, cluster categories, Coxeter groups, polytopes, continued fractions.
When I am not doing math, I enjoy running, biking, cooking, learning new languages, and playing cribbage.
(A hint for pronouncing my last name: it rhymes with ``canyon''.)
