Each year, Union West Rotary opens up a scholarship to those that attend Sun Valley High School, Porter Ridge Highschool, Metrolina Christian Academy or any Indian Trail resident that attends homeschool. Each year, $10,000 in scholarship funds are awarded to high school students furthering their education in college, universities or trade schools. Interested students need to complete an online application: https://forms.gle/PWu64dw2JgCHwksh7. The online application provides a timeline, scholarship essay prompt, and contact information if students have any questions. These essays are judged blindly by our Rotary Club. I appreciate any opportunity that you can provide to put this in front of graduating seniors.
SFTL is a program created by Rotary and the Cetner for Creative Leadership (CCL), a top ranked, global provider of leadership development who have worked with 2/3 of the Fortune 1,000. This is an awesome program that is right in our “back yard”. The program will be hosted July 17-20 at Gardner-Webb University. Students are able to apply online at: https://www.ismyrotaryclub.org/App/?ID=147. Please have them select Union West Rotary as the Rotary Club that referred them. They are welcome to use my name, Hayden Kramer, as the Rotarian that referred them. Union West Rotary will sponsor 3-5 students, there is no cost (besides transportation) for participants. This program is specifically for sophomores, juniors and/or seniors (as of September 2025). Students, parents and school leaders can lean more about SFTL at: https://rotary7680.org/sftl/. It is truly an amazing program!
