Do I need to come to class?

Yes!

We need you here! Your input and participation are important! Also, being in class helps all the components in the course make sense to you. When you’re gone, even for a day, you miss things that are hard to recreate. Missing class is a bit like walking out of a movie for 20 minutes and being confused when you come back.

Each student can miss five classes with no penalty.

However, each unused absence at the end of the semester will add .5% to your final grade. For example, if your final average is 88.5 and you have not used any of your absences, 2.5% will be added to your grade, which would raise it to 90%.

If you have a documented reason for absence such as a university field trip, court date, medical issue etc., those absences will not count against you.

If you must quarantine due to possible COVID exposure, you do not need to provide documentation.

Each absence over five incurs a .5% penalty on your final grade.

If, at any point during the course, you encounter a circumstance (mental, physical, cognitive, legal, personal, etc.) that affects you ability to fully access and participate in this course, you are welcome (but not required) to contact me to discuss your specific needs.

If you are absence on the day of an assessment and do not have a documented absence, you may make up the assessment with a 10% penalty.
