Purchase a "S" Zone Commuter parking permit and park in Zone 5. You may pre-purchase your permit on MyCommute or pay at the kiosk on the day of the orientation.
Complete the information in the link below to activate your UCINetID as soon as possible. Your UCINetID is essential for signing into everything at UCI.
A valid parking permit is required at all times when parking on campus. Once your UCINetID is activated, you may purchase your parking permit through the My Commute link.
Once you have passed the CSETs, please email the results to your Program Coordinator and upload them to the Post-Submission Materials tab in the application portal.
For those of you who are already making travel plans during the break between the two summer sessions, 7/28-8/1 is the only REAL time that you have off during the summer and fall quarters. Bear in mind that even though you do not have UCI classes from 9/8-9/12, you do need to go to your field placement. We also typically schedule the Meet & Greet with your assigned supervisor on that week as well.
Are you interested in serving your cohort as a student representative?
Student Reps are a core group of MAT students who volunteer to make a difference during the year. In the past, students reps have organized many types of activities and events. Here are some of the key responsibilities of the student reps:
nurture a positive, caring, and encouraging community for all (an absolute must!)
meet regularly with the program coordinator
meet regularly as reps to organize cohort events and discuss cohort needs
maintain good academic standing throughout the program
The MAT Leadership is looking for 6-8 student leaders to represent the voices of your peers and to plan events throughout the year. If you are interested, please complete the form in the link below.
Research has shown that paired placements increase the opportunities for collaboration and differentiation for students.
Shared Readings
Be prepared to discuss parts of the readings during orientation.
Consider these questions as you read the books. Additional questions will be discussed.
Love:
Bettina Love used the term “abolitionist teaching” with intentionality. How do you interpret the meaning behind the term? Whose and what freedom are we are fighting for?
In what ways can we reimagine schools so that historically marginalized students thrive, and not just survive, in schools?
Gonzales (Read Ch. 1-4):
What are some of the unique challenges faced by undocumented youth in navigating education, employment, and healthcare?
What role do educators, community leaders, and policymakers play in addressing the needs of undocumented youth?
Dr. Bettina Love is a brilliant ed reform leader who has a talent for bringing into crystal clear focus how real change can happen.
