Reflect on your progress in topic selection, secondary source research, and narrowing your research focus. What is working well and where have you faced challenges? What's your plan for the next step?
In relation to my progress in finding a topic selection, I am finding a bit of trouble looking for secondary sources relating to my primary source. My primary source, Experience by Ludovico Einaudi is a classical piano piece but unfortunately it is not well known enough to contain secondary sources relating exactly to the song or the pianist. So I am trying to broad my research for secondary sources, looking for subjects relating to the broader concept of classical music and its effect on people emotionally, physically, as well as connecting it to nature and utopian fantasy in world building. So far, secondary sources I have found focus on the effect of music primarily on a person's physical and emotional state, with scientific evidence of brain stimulation indicating they have increased heightened emotions, respiratory pulse etc. With these sources I think I can gear my research towards the effect music has on people. The next step is with other secondary sources I find that review a classical piece and it's simplistic beauty etc, and with the help of the scientific evidence of emotional transformation, I can conjure a proposition that this classical piece (whichever one I am to choose) changes one's realistic state of mind to a more imaginative perception, making my way towards the idea of worldbuilding.
After talking to my professor about this issue in finding sources directed to Ludovico Einaudi or his piece Experience, I have decided to still continue focusing my research on classical music but maybe gear my focus on either another classical piece that is more well known since Einaudi's music is harder to find related sources. Another option is to find classical pieces that relate to Einaudi's song that can serve as a comparison. I still plan to focus on how either classical piece both enhances our emotions to enter into a more enlightened state of being, and focus on a utopian outlook of how life is experience through the piece's composition.
