The Video Game Development Club is one of the biggest clubs at UC Irvine, where students can work in teams to create games throughout the quarter, or attend workshops to learn about specific departments. These departments include but are not limited to: Writing, Programming, and of course, Audio!
As an Audio Officer, I helped create and run these Audio workshops, as well as assist in the function of the club as a whole. I loved mentoring students and being surrounded by other talented individuals with the same goals as me. Through VGDC, I have taught composition and sound design to other game design students, general club members, and high school programs. One thing to note is that I came from a very different musical background than my fellow officers, which was a rap and EDM background, which meant we broadened each other's horizons while working together
VGDC was monumental to my growth as a developer because it kept me focused on my dreams. Many of my projects and connections were facilitated by this club. It taught me how to adjust my workflow to fit the pipelines of other departments better and be a part of something bigger than myself.
