Patricia Cruz created the 49th annual Chicano Park Day poster. The poster features danzantes to honor Chicano culture. Danzantes are symbols of Chicano culture and tradition, and are presented in several lights in the poster. They are seen performig around the kiosko, the heart of the park, where many danzantes go to practice. They are also seen in the left corner circling the Mexican flag at half mast. The poster commemorates the traditions that are practiced today in Chicano Park and honors the dacners as carriers and protectors of tradtion. Also depicted are the Voladores ("flying men") and a traditional dreamcatcher, both symbolic of pre-colonial tradition.
