We are Anteater PACT (Progress, Advocacy, and Campus Transparency), and believe in a student government that actively serves the student body through progressing conversations to create change, advocacy based reform, and securing transparency with UC Irvine administration. As your candidates for ASUCI leadership positions, we are committed to transforming how ASUCI operates and rebuilds trust with the Anteater community.
Create new initiatives that directly address student needs
Expand existing resources that support students
Create sustainable programs that continue beyond our terms
Modernize ASUCI operations to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Amplify student voices in university decision-making processes
Fight for increased funding for student services and organizations
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across campus
Represent UCI student interests at the local, state, and national levels, and with UCI administration
Create meaningful communication between ASUCI and the student body
Publish detailed reports on ASUCI activities and budget allocations
Create accessible channels for student feedback and concerns
Create a stable plan to ensure that the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS) will not drop students from their classes, should OFAS have delays
Support long-term plans to increase parking availability at UCI
Support initiatives expanding Anteater Express Service on Campus, such as creating Weekend Service.
Collaborate with the UCI Basic Needs Center to increase availability of gas passes for students.
Connect funding boards to ASUCI, similar to Student Programming Funding Board, such as the Multicultural Programs Committee Funding Board under the Cross Cultural Center, the SOAR Affiliation Funding Board, and the Team Building Funding Board through UCI Campus Organizations & Volunteer Programs.
Create RCO and ASUCI collaboration opportunities such as creating an RCO Advisory Board, RCO Forums, and inviting RCO leaders to meetings with applicable administrators & departments.
Get ASUCI prominently involved in SPOP, educating incoming students on a variety of academic resources and school resources.
Create and codify School-Based councils in university governance, to play a more key role in ASUCI operations.
Establish a lending library program in collaboration with The Hill for commonly used academic resources.
Collaborate with AGS to establish a graduate mentorship program, to support those wishing to pursue further degrees.
Continue reviewing Time, Place, and Manner restrictions and recommending changes to the Public Safety Advisory Committee or the Chancellor that align with student needs.
Support and preserve existing infrastructure for culturally appropriate counseling and promote their services.
Provide more events where students can directly participate in, including Spirit Weeks, performing arts showcases, and formals.
Support guaranteed housing for international students and advocating for more international student support initiatives.
Support long-term plans to increase housing on campus, with student input.
Advocate for and codify increased state funding in California to the UC, especially with the ongoing threats to the Department of Education.
Advocate for public transportation investment in OC and at the state level.
Continue to advocate for Opportunity for All at the UC level.
Push for SB 98 in California State Legislature, to mandate emergency alerts with confirmed ICE presence on or around campus.
Create CalFresh alternatives for those who do not meet the legal requirements for SNAP, in collaboration with UCI resource centers.
Maintain support for YIMBY policies at the local, state, and federal level.
Maintain support for the continuation of identity-themed halls on campus.
Push for all eligible locations on campus to accept CalFresh funds.
Create a “Basic Needs Security for Academic Excellence” campaign, highlighting that basic needs must be met in order to ensure academic success.
Collaborate with the Student Health Insurance Advisory Committee, to monitor premium levels and advocate for benefits most utilized by the student body.
Support the creation of wellness vending machines on campus, to ensure the accessibility and affordability of health resources such as condoms, menstrual products, and hygiene products.
Provide a space for students who faced financial hardships during the financial aid delays to advocate for themselves and others, and give their personal testimonies during meetings with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
Similarly, bringing student testimonials to the table in discussions regarding accessibility and affordability with UCI Transportation and Distribution Services & UCI Housing.
Protect DEI initiatives on campus such as the Cross Cultural Center and their umbrella organizations, and collaborate with UCI Resource Centers to ensure students are gaining complete access to their services.
Ensure that students understand how to gain access to all resources on campus, such as creating a “How to create an RCO” guide for students who want to create their own Registered Campus Organization, “How to apply for SPFB” guide, and providing support for any questions and concerns.
Additionally, create guides for resources such as where to obtain student discounts and how to navigate parking permit options.
Expand the 2024-25 Internal Vice President housing guide for off-campus students, and publicize it more to gain awareness of it.
Create an advisory board to go over quarterly reports for Senate activities, and create town halls for direct student interaction and feedback.
Enforce student staff office hours, to ensure accessibility to the student body.
Enforce direct suggestion boxes, and make sure that all boards have access to the proper emails.
Improve the communications team in ASUCI, to increase ASUCI visibility, and create initiatives such as quarterly or monthly ASUCI-wide emails highlighting the work done in that period.
Create luncheons or meetings with ASUCI Executive Cabinet and the people that they serve, such as the President meeting with representatives from the general student body, the Internal Vice President meeting with RCO leaders, the Academic Affairs Vice President meeting with Peer Academic Advisors, and Senators meeting with school-based councils.
Increase collaboration with the Police Accountability Board, to enforce accountability for the student body.
Create a plan of action in collaboration with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS) made public, to hold OFAS accountable if future delays occur.
Meet with UCI Transportation and Distribution Services for information on a detailed, itemized budget, and advocate for it to be public.
Make meeting agendas with administrators public, to ensure transparency with both administrators and ASUCI.
