In this course, we were assigned 12 readings and literacy-blog reflections, as weekly reading and writing tasks. Those are all well-organized essays by professors and writers on different topics, introducing us to literacy strategies. We wrote reflections under the prompts' guidance offered by our professor, connecting our experiences with the main ideas in the article, triggering our thoughts, and reflecting on our learning process.
At first, it was hard to start with a long article and a 450-word essay. It was the period that I pushed myself to practice, and heavy work was always finished in rush. Things got better after my instructor lowered the word limit of the blog reflection to 300 words, then the reflection writing became more enjoyable.
The readings are all clear and interesting for the readers to be engaged in, based on the authors' experiences and examples from their students. I was impressed by several common ideas mentioned almost in every reading, which are the consideration of the genre and the audience, following the writing process with drafts and revisions. Some of my classmates super liked the articles written by Bunn and Rosenberg, their passion made me remember the essential strategies like regarding the author's word choices and rhetorical techniques and joining the conversation while reading.
Overall, literacy-blog reflection expanded my knowledge in the area of reading and writing and brought back my memories of writing at an early age. Undoubtedly, I am making a progress in my language use.
