EVs are Cheaper
In China's domestic passenger vehicle market, the prices of conventional fuel vehicles continue to rise, with a noticeable market contraction in the mid- to low-end segments. However, as the high-end segment began to shrink recently, the average price dropped to 182,000 yuan in the first half of 2025 and remained at 185,000 yuan in June. Fewer people are buying fuel vehicles.
Meanwhile, the average price of NEVs has been gradually declining, demonstrating a significant price drop and reflecting active consumer demand for NEVs.
EV Exports are Profitable
NEV exports are primarily directed to South America and Europe, while the Asian market shows strong demand for lower-end models.
China's NEV exports help drive down local NEV prices in the importing countries. This figure below shows the price premium of BEVs over conventional cars, plotted against the share of Chinese imports in domestic electric vehicle sales during 2023–2024.
