2025: CONNECTIONS: Landscapes
The UC Davis English Graduate Student Association (EGSA) is hosting its third annual student-led Connections Conference under the wide-ranging theme of “Landscapes.” Connections 2025 examines the concept of landscape in its broadest sense—not only as physical terrain but also as a cultural, social, and political construct. This all-day conference will feature panels and roundtables, creative exhibits, interactive events, opportunities for involvement in student organizations, and conference awards.
2024: CONNECTIONS: PLAYING WITH GENRE
Books. Games, Art. Film. Fanfiction. Music. Which of these are not like the others? This conference explores the in- betweens that are often overlooked when we build barriers in defining art. Interrogating the spaces between departments, ontologies, and methodologies can only be done through cross-conversation; we hope the focus of these overlooked barriers between media will generate fruitful discussion and circumspect perspectives.
2023: COAST TO COAST CONNECTIONS
The theme of connection in the humanities is far-reaching and multifaceted. This student conference is a joint initiative between UAlbany and UC Davis focused on connection in all its significations. Topics on theme of connection include: identity and place-making through kinship, affinity, relationality, communication, or networking, interspecies and other posthuman relationships, intertextual connections across literature or other media, deconstruction and decolonization of borders and other boundaries, and topographical relationality virtual or nontraditional forms of connection.
