About

The UCHS Dance Company was established in 2009. The company rehearses every day during 9th period as well as after school occasionally and is by audition only. This is the most intensive class offered at UCHS. These students meet daily during the Dance Performance & Aesthetics class period 9, to work on learning, creating, and rehearsing choreography. These pieces of work are often collaborations between the students, instructors, and master guest artists. The Company performs at school performances, as well as for community events, nursing homes, and outreach to the many other schools within the district.  The Company participates in Dance NJ events, as well as hosts the annual NJHS Dance Festival. They have the opportunity to work with Master teachers throughout the year as well as to attend college visits and professional performances. Members of the company are trained to be dancers, creators, and leaders, as every year the company produces their very own choreography showcase in the Spring. 

The Company’s vision is to promote the interpretation, appreciation, and experience of dance, both for the students and for the community. The UCHS Dance Company is also directly linked with a local chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts here at the high school.
