Honors Dance

Overview

Students will experience dance on an intermediate/advanced level. Honors Dance is an extension of the Dance I & II courses, but will delve deeper into Jazz and Modern technique, content, and history, providing students with the opportunity to further their creative experience.

Goals

Students will continue to focus on anatomy, body, weight, shape, space, time, effort, history, and technology, as well as learning the universal language of dance, LMA. Through these concepts, students will work to interpret, appreciate, compose, and critique dance. Students will focus on Modern Dance, Jazz, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, and Composition.

Requirements

Upon successful completion of Dance 1 & 2, students may elect to take Honors Dance.

Students are also required to see and critique a professional dance performance.
