We are thrilled and deeply privileged to welcome Penny Ur as the Featured Keynote Speaker for our hybrid ELT Conference, "Current Technologies in EFL: Making Learning Student-Centered and Inclusive." Prof. Ur is a renowned English Language Teaching expert with over 40 years of experience as a teacher, educator, and author. Known for her practical, research-based insights, she has trained countless teachers and is widely recognized for her influential publications. It is our honor to have her talk to Bolivian English teachers and students.
Abstract:
Often some students – particularly in large classes – find themselves excluded from active participation in a lesson. This is not normally because they are being deliberately neglected, or because a teacher is unaware of the differing needs and preferences of the learners. It is more usually simply because many conventional classroom procedures only activate a minority of students. In this talk I’ll suggest a number of teaching strategies that can facilitate participation by most, if not all, members of the class, whether in teacher-fronted, individual or collaborative procedures, and that in general will foster inclusivity and active learning in the classroom.
